The people of Minneapolis are not cowering before their fascist president and his brutal ICE police. No, unlike the many politicians, prestigious lawyers, and university presidents who have caved in to Trump, Minneapolitans refuse to give in. Some, such as Renee Good and Alex Pretti, have paid a high price. They could have easily stayed comfortably at home during freezing cold temperatures and not given a damn about immigrant children as young as two being sent to a concentration camp. But no, instead they went out onto the Streets of Minneapolis because it was more important for them to help their community and try to put a stop to ICE violence.
And to think that these heroes were labelled “terrorists” by several of Trump’s henchmen. Terrorists instill terror through violence on a population, which obviously makes ICE the terrorists, not the people trying to fend them off. In Iran, where innocent protesters have recently been slaughtered by the thousands, the terrorists are the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, not the protesters. In Palestine, the terrorists are both Hamas, which killed over a thousand Israelis on October 7th 2023, as well as the Israeli Defense Forces that has since been killing ordinary Palestinians by the tens of thousands. In Ukraine, the terrorists are the Russian army that invaded that country in the first place, not the Ukrainian army that is trying to fend them off. Let’s get this straight.
The people on the streets of Minneapolis are an anti-terror organization. Delivering food to a family too scared to leave their home is helping a neighbor in need, not terrorism. Video-recording ICE violence is defending the US Constitution, not terrorism. Warning people of approaching ICE thugs is practicing peace, not terrorism. Nobel Peace Prizes should go to people doing these sorts of things, not to politicians who divide communities, and certainly never to a president who lies, spreads racism, makes threats to annex sovereign countries, and provokes violence.
The heroic people of Minneapolis have finally forced their despicable president to back-pedal and begin to change his ways. I was really starting to worry about the lack of domestic resistance against the rise of US fascism, but now there is hope. Thank you!
