The Barcelona Pavilion as Cozy Christmas Home

screen-shot-2016-11-26-at-19-44-30Here’s yet another advertisement that features the Barcelona Pavilion. This one isn’t a print ad for a famous German brand of luxury automobiles, but a TV ad for a Dutch brand of  beer that has just come out for Christmas, even though it’s November and Christmas is still a month away. It features a jovial Benicio del Toro opening Christmas gifts in what is supposed to be his house, which means that the pavilion is in this case standing in as a substitute for, presumably, a Beverly Hills mansion. At Christmas time. With a decorated Tannenbaum.

Does anyone else have the feeling that Mies is probably rolling over in his Chicago grave right now?
